Luminar neo plugin10/22/2023 If Photoshop is an integral part of your editing workflow, Luminar Neo can still form an important part of your creative process. Once you’ve made your changes in Luminar Neo, hit Apply, and it will return the edited image to Photoshop, where you can continue working with it. With an image layer selected in Photoshop, go to Filter > Skylum Software > Luminar Neo to open up Luminar Neo as a plugin. This means you don’t have to choose between the two in fact, they can complement each other, just like how Lightroom Neo works with Lightroom. While Luminar Neo is best known as a standalone image editor, it can also serve as a plugin for Photoshop. Similarly, I prefer the Topaz apps over the equivalent Neo extensions.Luminar Neo vs Adobe Photoshop The best of both worldsįirst of all, let’s clear up the biggest misconception about Luminar Neo. Yes, though I'd prefer to use Affinity for those. Neo has a few other tricks like Focus Stacking and HDR which are not things in PL6. I use PL6 for all RAW development and then Neo if I feel a photo needs something special that PL6 cannot do. But the basic function of cloning is much better in PL6 than Neo. One thing they can both do is to erase unwanted objects in images. But if you want to develop raw files, particularly noisy ones, PL does it very well indeed, whereas Neo does it badly. PL doesn't do it at all, whereas Neo does it easily and pretty well. Neo tries to do much too much, and it does most things badly, but there are a few things it does reasonably well and easily. PL's abilities are narrow, but deep Neo's are wide but shallow. Neo is the other way round: it does have the rudimentary ability to develop raws, but it's mainly a photo enhancer. PhotoLab is primarily a raw developer and editor, but not a general purpose photo editor. They're very different products, used for different purposes. I have both PhotoLab 6 (with ViewPoint and FilmPack) and Luminar Neo with all extensions. Well, thank you for your response, I will let you now what DXO does on my system. I am still disappointed though because Luminar looked promising. I already tested version 5 and that worked without any issue. I will download the trial for DXO Photolab 6 and see if that is an option. I use a Dell Precision 5510 with an older Nvidia Quadro graphics card, plenty of memory and an SSD but even a total reinstallation of my system doesn't solve anything. I worked for the ICT department within our school for 26 years so I have some experience with software and computers. I appreciate other forum members and their contributions but I used more Luminar versions from Luminar 4 to Luminar AI and now Neo but for whatever reason the sotware simply won't run stable on my system. Ever had issues with Luminar like instabilibty or slowness ? I tried the trial version for DXO and this software seems to work great on my hardware. So going back to Lightroom or trying DXO. I do not want to start a "bash Luminar" thread on this forum but for me it is a waste of money, effort and it was affecting the pleasure I had in editing and taking photos. I was just curious if you ever had any of these experiences. I have a laptop with a 4K screen and it seems like Luminar needs to sort of render the pictures. Slow while loading catalog and it takes a long while for pictures to be displayed correctly while browsing the catalog. I reinstalled my laptop completely, used all the new software and graphic drivers (again) but yes, same issue as a few months back. This issue occured earlier with a previous update for Luminar Neo. I installed the lastest update and then again my catalog was becoming very slow. I sincerely hope your experience is different but I just removed Luminar from my laptop.
